Pauls Lane, located in Bridgehampton, New York is a ground-up construction two-story home completed in Fall 2016.
The house’s plan is an elongated rectangle to create a simple and cost-efficient envelope with a pitched roof to facilitate negotiating the fairly extreme weather conditions of Eastern Long Island. The design intent was to reference the more traditional architecture of the region including the ‘saltboxes’ and farmhouses that still dot the area.
The building is oriented so the long axes face due north-south. To maximize the exposures in the main living space custom windows follow the roof line to flood the space with southern light. Sliding doors open onto a wide deck and face a pool that's proportions match that of the house.
