A family living in a Manhattan apartment near Sutton Place found they were outgrowing their space so decided to combine with the adjacent apartment to create a more private master suite with the combined unit of 2600sf. They also wanted to re-configure the entrance to the combined space to encourage guests to move directly to the living areas and build a vestibule for sound and visual privacy to their children’s room.

The design solution was to create a custom curved vestibule with curved millwork that funneled people into the living room and the corner exposures of the unit, simultaneously solving the spatial problem as well as a providing a dramatic entry sequence.

The master suite was configured to have his- and her- bathrooms and walk-in-closets as well as a lounge area, office, and a fully-equipped walnut-panelled pantry for breakfasts, coffee, drinks, and snacks.
